We are frequently asked how our fixtures install in handrail.
This month we created a visual step-by-step guide to demonstrate the straightforward process of installing the KLIK LEDpodTM.
1: Coordinate placement of post sleeve prior to concrete pour. Route conduit/wireway through sleeve. Railing installer will place post atop conduit to introduce wire into railing.2: As part of pre-installation planning, provide path for wire penetration into the rail. During install, run wires into rail past first hole for KLIK LEDpodTM.3: Using rat-tail file, deburr interior wall of LEDpodTM holes. A sharp edge inside the holes will strip wire and create path to ground.4: Pull feeder wires out of first hole. Feed wire through remainder of rail. Leave wire spool at end of run.5 & 6: Connect incoming feeds to rail run of wire using IP wire connect. When finished, fish connection back into rail in direction of feed.5 & 6: Connect incoming feeds to rail run of wire using IP wire connect. When finished, fish connection back into rail in direction of feed. 7: Starting at end opposite the still-spooled wire, pull loops of wire from both holes. Use needle-nose pliers to aid bringing wire up over interior edges of hole to prevent stripping.8: 2-3″ loops pulled from each hole.9: Snip wire from spool at last hole, leave pigtail hanging.10: Insert LEDpodTM clip behind wires and sweep wires to either side of clip. Wires should not route above where LEDpodTM will approach top wall of rail. Center clips within the hole using the tool provided.11: Check Scotch-LokTM to ensure blade is in raised position.12: The rear-panel of Scotch-LokTM hinges out, capture first conductor and snap closed. Minding polarity, introduce conductor from driver.13: Use pliers to pierce conductor with blade of Scotch-LokTM.14: Driver secured to + and – conductor.15: Make fixture connection to driver.16: Continue above steps for remainder of fixtures on circuit, leaving fixtures hanging on circuit. Power the system and function check each light.17: Starting at last connection, feed Scotch-LokTM connections into rail. All subsequent wire-loops should feed into rail toward the last connection to maintain sufficient slack.18: Continue feeding connections into rail.19: Driver inserted into rail behind wire connections.20: For asymmetric distribution, note half-moon on face of fixture. HALF-MOON FACES WALKWAY. Gently work fixture into clip minding direction of asymmetry, then snap in place.21: Use removal tool to gently rock fixture to ensure it is seated and to align parallel to rail axis.21: Complete install.
